Liverpool look to add World Cup winning goalkeeper Ron Robert Zieler to bolster their goalkeeper options.

Bild via Caught Offside broke the news that Liverpool are set to make a move for Ron Robert Zieler, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany as backup to Manuel Neuer.

The report also states that Zieler is open to signing for Liverpool.

Zieler currently plies his trade in the Bundesliga with Hannover. While he is not expected to take over the no.1 spot, it is expected that he will provide competition to current goalkeepers Alisson and Kelleher.

Similar to 2020, when Klopp brought in Kostas Tsimikas to not only provide cover for Robertson but to also remove possible complacency from certain positions.

It is undeniable that Alisson is the undisputed no.1 at Liverpool, however in this atypical season for Klopp’s Liverpool and most recently in the FA Cup Fourth Round tie against Wolverhampton, Alisson has shown he is not infallible.

As recent performances have had the fanbase clamoring for additions in the midfield and the recent injury to Van Dijk opening up a possible centre-back signing, it will be interesting to see where Liverpool decide to invest their money.

Caoimhin Kelleher hinted recently that he may look to leave in search of first team football.
