Liverpool are interested in a move for Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to French publication jeunesfooteux.com. The Norwegian made his £23 million move to England in 2020 from KRC Genk.
Sheffield United were relegated at the end of the 2020/21 season and Berge has remained with the club, despite several rumours about a departure. The Championship were recently given a transfer embargo due to issues related to the non- payment of transfer fees to other clubs. The report suggests that due to their financial difficulties, Sheffield United may be forced to sell their most valuable assets, Berge being chief among them.
The report states that Chelsea are also interested in the midfielder, who is valued at around £16 million.
The Norwegian has spoken previously about his desire to play for Liverpool in an interview with the Norway-based TV2. Berge said, “Playing at Anfield is a dream for everyone in the world, and not least for Norwegians. Liverpool are the best team and have the most fans, so I would certainly like to play at Anfield as often as possible.”
Berge has scored 4 goals and has registered 3 assists in the Championship this season.
