With every passing day Liverpool seem to be linked with a new central midfielder.

It is no secret that it is an area where Jurgen Klopp feels he needs to strengthen.

Just last month Jurgen Klopp admitted that new investment is needed in the side:

Italian football journalist Matteo Moretto has claimed that Jurgen Klopp will meet with Ismaël Bennacer’s entourage ‘before the end of the year’. The AC Milan star has played 21 times for Rossoneri this season including 6 appearances in the Champions League.

I had a look at his statistics on football data site Comparisonator. The Algerian international averages 3rd highest in successful dribbles against players in a similar position in Serie A.

Just 7 players have averaged more successful ball recoveries in the opponents half.

It is clear to see why top clubs would be interested in him.

Moretto claims that Liverpool want to buy ‘two or three midfielders’ and Bennacer is under consideration for one of those spots. Moretto also claims that Bennacer remaining in Milan is the most likely outcome.
