Liverpool’s hunt for midfield reinforcements is ongoing, with English playmaker Mason Mount catching the eye of the Anfield camp.
Jude Bellingham remains the number one priority for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but a cheaper alternative in Mount would bring tenacity and heaps of Premier League experience.
If their pursuit of Mount is serious, they may have just been dealt the upper hand as the West Londoners are scouring the market for potential replacements.
Former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has been a mainstay in Fulham’s team this campaign and has attracted the attention of bigger clubs, in England and overseas.
Pereira is on Chelsea’s radar, with the 27-year-old Brazilian also admired by European heavyweights Atletico Madrid and PSG, according to ESPN.
If Pereira’s links to the Stamford Bridge-based side heat up, Klopp’s ears will be pricked as it gives Liverpool an easier route to sign Mount from their Premier League counterparts.
Fulham value their midfield maestro between £25, and £35m and remains under contract until 2026, with the option of an additional year.
If Chelsea are able to prise him away from ninth-placed Fulham, Liverpool’s pursuit of Mount may also be ignited.
