Liverpool will visit Villa Park on Monday for Jurgen Klopp’s penultimate game in charge, facing an Aston Villa side eager to secure Champions League qualification.

Unai Emery’s team requires three points to make it mathematically impossible for Tottenham to catch up, with only two matches remaining for Spurs against Manchester City and Sheffield United.

Villa will first encounter in-form Crystal Palace on Sunday, but their spot in UEFA’s elite competition could be sealed before then.

Failure to defeat Liverpool could still see them through, especially if Tottenham loses to City.

Even a draw against Liverpool would suffice if Spurs falter against City.

Villa are determined to secure maximum points, although Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers, and Nicolo Zaniolo are doubtful, with Alex Moreno possibly returning after missing the midweek game against Olympiacos.

Liverpool may be missing up to five players who’ve been absent from training. Diogo Jota and Andy Robertson are among those absent, with Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, and Ben Doak also sidelined due to injuries.

Despite this, they will bring a nearly full squad to Villa Park, with Stefan Bajcetic returning from injury and Virgil van Dijk passing a late fitness test.

In his pre-match conference, Klopp commended young defender Jarrel Quansah, hinting at a possible start alongside captain Virgil van Dijk.

The German said: “It’s just like that we play once a week and we just look at who looks in the best moment, and Jarell is one of them.

“That’s how it is and we don’t play with three centre-halves or whatever, so it means we have to make a decision and Jarell is training really well and we have a lot of training sessions, he is training really well.

“That doesn’t mean Ibou [Konate] or Joey [Gomez] wouldn’t train well, but Jarell trained really well and that’s how it is and that’s why I make these kind of decisions.

“That’s the best situation to have, I can just sit there and look at it.”
