Liverpool will be searching the market high and low for midfield options as they look to continue their recent, positive turn of progress into the 2023/24 campaign.

The critics have been silenced following Jurgen Klopp’s side’s enthralling 7-0 win over Manchester United, but they still are out of contention for Champions League football as things stand.

The midfield area has been highlighted as an area in need of a lick of paint and Juventus star Adrien Rabiot, on a free transfer, will bolster their depth in the engine room.

The Frenchman, who put in impressive displays in the winter World Cup, is out of contract this summer.

Although the Reds are interested in his signature, Football Insider reports that they will face fierce competition from Premier League compatriots, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Jude Bellingham remains the priority for Klopp and his entourage, but Rabiot on a free transfer is a plausible replacement if negotiations were to fall through with Borussia Dortmund.

A problem may be that the £145,000 a week star would expect an increase in his wage bill if a move to England came into fruition, which will definitely be something on the minds of those in the Liverpool camp.

Some may not know that Rabiot played at Manchester City as a youngster and although things didn’t exactly work out, a return to English football is still a dream for the Juventus man.

The 27-year-old was on the cusp of joining rivals Manchester United in the summer just gone, which shows his willingness to leave Turin and join a club in England.
