French world cup winner Kylian Mbappe has recently commented on his future.
Mbappe raised eyebrows last summer when he publically announced that he would not be extending his deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
At present, the striker looks set to leave Paris for free next summer in what is an incredible turn of events.
For the last few years, Real Madrid have been touted as the club leading the race to sign the 24-year-old but amazingly, reports emerged earlier this month which claimed that Los Blancos had decided to end their pursuit of Mbappe.
L’Equipe also reported earlier this month that Liverpool have maintained contact with Mbappe’s representatives since their initial interest years ago.
Liverpool have reportedly not counted themselves out of signing Mbappe just yet.
A report last week from AS via Sport Witness claimed that Mbappe’s exorbitant wage demands were a key factor in Madrid cooling their interest in the 24-year-old.
Mbappe is reportedly demanding an annual salary of €35 million per year after tax. The report also claims that Madrid would have to pay Mbappe a staggering signing-on bonus of around €100 million.
It is difficult to see Liverpool coming anywhere near this deal considering the outrageous money involved in what would be essentially a free transfer.
Mbappe, speaking recently to Telefoot via TeamTalk, spoke about his future but refused to go into detail on any potential destination.
“It’s something I don’t want to talk about, especially since I already did it in June and it took up a big part of the time with the national team.
“I want us to talk more about the national team, rather than me talking about something that will be resolved one day, so there will be time to talk about that.”
Mbappe reached the milestone of 300 goals in his career in both club and international football, a staggering achievement at just 24.
On his goal-scoring record, Mbappe said, “It’s important. But for me it’s just a step. I know where I want to go and I want to score much more than 300 goals.”
He added: “I have teammates and coaches who always ask me for more.
“I am very happy that there is this demand around me. I want to continue to progress and help my team as best as possible.”
