Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gave an insight into the camaraderie inside the club today while speaking on new signing Cody Gakpo.
Klopp seemed impressed with Gakpo immediately and took the opportunity today to praise his new signing’s character.
With Liverpool heavily linked to Jude Bellingham they will have to use all the tools at their disposal to convince the Dortmund star to wear red. Financially Liverpool are likely to struggle with Real Madrid in terms of what kind of salary they can offer Bellingham.
Klopp explained what the club can offer new signings aside from hefty pay cheques. With the race for Bellingham’s signature hotting up Klopp opened the door on what Liverpool can offer:
“I am now seven and a half years inside, I don’t see the club from outside anymore, but you know that Liverpool is a massive club, it is.
“What we can give to players is the size of the club, but the feeling inside we are really close together that’s how it is., We describe it internally as family. We don’t go outside telling everyone we are a family or whatever. We sing birthday songs for everybody. Everybody gets flowers in the right moments, we don’t forget the personal things. Virgil probably told him (Gakpo). Could we be more successful at the moment on the pitch? Yes, definitely. But everyone knows we fight to get there again and we will get there. I like that he (Gakpo) decided pretty quickly, ‘that’s the right club for me’.”
