During his pre-match press conference ahead of tonight’s tie against Leicester City, Jurgen Klopp has reiterated his desire to keep Roberto Firmino at Liverpool FC.

“We’re in talks with Bobby and I want him to stay. No impact.”

Firmino has been a firm favourite of Klopp’s since his arrival to the club for the 2015/16 season. His high pressing intensity leading from the front has come to personify the German’s ‘heavy-metal football’ approach.

“I want Roberto Firmino to stay at Liverpool and sign a new deal with us.”

Negotiations are currently taking place for a short-term extension. Firmino’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Firmino confirmed early in the week that he is close to a return to action. He is expected to be available for selection when Liverpool face Brentford on January 2nd.
In 244 appearances for Liverpool FC, Firmino has scored 78 goals and registered 49 assists.
The Brazilian has also won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the FA Community Shield, the EFL Cup, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA World Club Cup during his time at Anfield.
