Jurgen Klopp provides latest injury update on Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez ruled out of Luton Town game due to injury.

Jurgen Klopp has provided the latest injury update on Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez after missing Wednesday’s Premier League game against Luton Town.

Klopp disclosed on Tuesday that both Salah and Nunez were doubts for the game due to muscle issues they picked up during the match against Brentford.

The injury concerns have further complicated the German’s plans, as Liverpool are already set to be without nine players this week.

“They [Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah] couldn’t have played tonight. Everybody who can play tonight will be there,” the 56-year-old said.

“From here we will see who will be back for Sunday [League Cup final against Chelsea], but that is not important at the moment.”

On Harvey Elliott making 100 appearances for Liverpool against Luton, Klopp added: “Absolutely incredible.

“It is a wonderful landmark for him and he is a lifelong Liverpool supporter and it is special.”

Luton were on the verge of securing a notable victory, courtesy of Tahith Chong’s goal in the reverse encounter.

However, a late equaliser by substitute Luis Diaz in the 95th minute spared Liverpool from a defeat, ultimately resulting in a drawn match.

“We are completely different since last time [facing Luton] they did well and we should have score goals,” Klopp continued

“I have seen plenty of games of Luton’s and the improvement they have made is crazy and deserves a lot of respect.

“Luton started very pragmatic [at the start of the season] and developed football based since then and it’s a really good job what Rob [Edwards] is doing there. Will it be a test for us? Yes.

“It is about getting in the game and causing problems and winning the game.”

For Luton boss Rob Edwards, he said: “I understand from his [Jurgen Klopp’s] point of view some of the the focus from the supporters will be on the game [League Cup final] in a few days time and the expectation is to roll Luton over.

“We have got to make sure we are doing our job and we don’t make it easy for them.

“We will try give it our best, we will focus on our performance and we are really looking forward to a massive challenge.”

“We will attack the game in a different way in what we did at Kenilworth Road and there will be no hiding away from what we are.

“In the last 10 games in the league we have been a certain way. I like how we have progressed and we are lot more on the front foot and we press very hard – it is allowing us to take more of the ball.

“When we played them in the first game we tried to block it up and there will not be as much of that [tonight].”
