Jurgen Klopp appeared crestfallen and confused after Liverpool’s 3-0 away defeat at Wolves yesterday. Klopp spoke to the media after the game and said, “I have no explanation. I’m sorry.”
But amid the debilitating defeat, the German did manage to find one bright spark in young Stefan Bajcetic. The midfielder has come into the side in the last few weeks and has shown confidence and calmness beyond his years.
The 18-year-old Spaniard has taken like a duck to water to regular first team football. As Liverpool attempt to overhaul their midfield in the summer, Bajcetic is surely to be in Klopp’s future plans.
Klopp gave his thoughts to Liverpool’s official website on the youngster when discussing whether or not his team lacks confidence.
“The team is not full of confidence, you can see that – the first 12 minutes were obvious, but it was about defending, being compact, being active. Do you need a lot of confidence for that? I am not so sure.”
“Put your body between the ball and the opponent, block the ball and these kind of things, avoid the cross. You saw Stefan Bajcetic full of confidence, he plays football for as long as we kept him on the pitch.”
It bodes well for Bajcetic’s future at the club if Klopp deems him worthy of a positive comment in what was overall an extremely difficult day for the team.
