Red’s boss Jurgen Klopp is ‘really interested’ in a loan deal for Manchester City’s Kalvin Philips according to Alex Crook of talkSPORT.

The Englishman has been admired by the decision makers at Anfield since his time at Leeds, as the Reds seek to reinforce their midfield ahead of the Friday night deadline.

Philips has struggled to make an impact at Manchester City so far, mainly due to the lack of minutes handed to him by Pep Guardiola.

The former Leeds man has only played 290 minutes of Premier League football since arriving in Manchester. Many of those minutes came when City had already wrapped up the title.

Phillips is yet to feature for City this season, with the reigning Premier League champions already playing three league games thus far.

It is believed that Liverpool could make their move if Manchester City complete the signing of Matheus Nunes.

Alex Crook told GIVEMESPORT: “Kalvin Phillips is a name that has been mentioned to me in the last couple of weeks as someone that Klopp is really interested in.”

“It might be possibly that Manchester City would let him go on loan. I guess that might depend on if City can get the Matheus Nunes deal over the line.”

The Euros are coming up, and Kalvin Philips will want to be in that squad. His performances at Euro 2020 earned him England’s Player of the Year in 2021.

The 27-year-old will be aware that he needs to be playing regular football to stand a chance at making the squad.

If Manchester City do manage to complete the signing of Matheus Nunes, then the Cityzens may be open to allowing Kalvin Phillips to leave.
