Jurgen Klopp has appealed for supporters to bring the noise in his passage in the official matchday programme for Liverpool’s game against Manchester United.
The fixture alone, no matter the context surrounding it, is always a huge date in the English football calendar. But what the result could mean for Liverpool’s chase for Top 4 and Manchester United potentially challenging for the title is impossible to understate.
The German said, “Every song, every shout of encouragement and every decibel of noise will help us. This has always been a fixture for big performances and it will be exactly the same today.”
Klopp talks about the importance the last few fixtures have been for Liverpool’s Top 4 hopes, and in keeping clean sheet against Crystal Palace and achieving a victory against Wolves, The Reds are on the rise.
“At the start of this week I said it was one that would be super important for us. This was more about our situation and ambitions than it was about our opponents, but at the same time I know any game against Manchester United would be super important no matter what.”
With Tottenham and Newcastle losing their respective games today, if Liverpool can beat Man Utd, Klopp’s men will climb to fifth in the Premier League table and will be three points outside the Champions League places.
Klopp then address the supporters directly, stating;
“Between us we can make things better and the same is true with our supporters who have been as much a part of this process as they have always been. The atmosphere against Wolves in midweek was super positive and we will need it to be the same today.”
“A super important week is about to draw to a close and it would be really good if we could end it on a high so let’s give it a try.”
