Liverpool have been linked with a move for Matheus Nunes. Nunes only signed for Wolves at the start of the season after numerous reports that Liverpool also wanted to sign the Portuguese international. The Telegraph have reported that Liverpool are exploring the idea of signing him.
Speaking to The Express and Star last week Nunes said: “I put more pressure on myself because I want to be the best, but I don’t think I did enough. I have the hunger now to get to where I want to be.
“I want to be better than I was in the last six months, and I think these first six months of 2023 are going to be better individually for me. mind and I’m pretty sure that I’m going to show that.”
“I have that in my mind and I’m pretty sure that I’m going to show that.”
Julen Lopetegui spoke to the media in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of the trip to Aston Villa.
He insisted the midfielder is happy at Wolves.
He was asked about rumours about Nunes joining Liverpool, he said: “We can say that Matheus is our player. He’s a Wolves player and he’s so happy here.”
Under FIFA, players are eligible to be registered for a maximum of three clubs in the same season but can only play for two, therefore signing Nunes in this window would not make sense.
