Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup yesterday by Brighton and after making some second-half changes in the middle Liverpool seemed to regress.

Brighton took more control of the game in a time when Klopp made substitutions to try to get Liverpool over the line in the tie.

Fabinho’s rash challenge of Evan Ferguson summed up his recent form. A yard short and a second too late.

Simon Jones, writing for the Daily Mail today, shed light on the difficulties Jurgen Klopp faces. According to Jones:

“Jurgen Klopp’s side are assessing the squads of top European sides like Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Juventus to see if there are any temporary deals they can do to add to their numbers in midfield.”

With Arsenal linked to Jorginho and Steven N’Zonzi today and Chelsea rumoured to be paying Enzo Fernandez’s fee Klopp has it all to do to secure European football. Particularly if it is through what Jones writes that Klopp is seeing if he can find temporary solutions from squads he is expecting to have Liverpool competing against in Europe’s major competitions.

It does seem that Liverpool are holding out for an all-out attempt to sign Jude Bellingham, without European football to offer him in the first place that challenge could be a whole lot more difficult.

Simon Jones also confirmed that Galatasaray are interested in signing Nat Phillips on loan.
