Liverpool faced Champions League chasing Aston Villa away from home on Monday in what is the teams penultimate game of the season.

Although the Reds were leading the game 3-1 at certain points in the game, thanks to a late brace from Villa’s Jhon Duran, the tie ended up as a draw.

Which, for Villa is one of the two outcomes that they would’ve wanted to occur on the night.

Unai Emery’s men now sit on 68 points, comfortably cementing their place within the top four.

That could all change after Tuesday night, however, as Tottenham are just five points behind in fifth.

Spurs are set to face Manchester City in what will be the game that decides which European competition they will be playing in.

Normally, Spurs’ fans would want their team to triumph and take the final Champions League spot down to the wire.

However, if Ange Postecoglou’s men win against the Cityzens, they would be doing arch-rivals, Arsenal, a massive favour.

Much like the battle for fourth place, the title fight for the top flight title could also go down to the wire, especially since Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand.

Liverpool were also in with a chance for the top flight title this term, however, over the last month or so the Reds have performed below par.

However, since the pressure for the title race has been lifted, they seem to have found themselves again.

The players seem to be playing with more freedom and it feels as if the club are themselves once again.

Jamie Carragher was in the Sky Sports studio on Monday and even likened a Liverpool players performance with that of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although this season has been full of many ups and downs for Liverpool, one positive that can be taken from the 2023/24 campaign is that some of the Reds’ youngsters have come on leaps and bounds.

Players such as Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley have both played vital parts in the Reds’ season and have even cemented starting roles in the team at times.

Of the two, however, the player who has arguably come on the most is that of Quansah.

The 21-year-old has played a total of 33 games across all competitions this season and has even managed to score two goals.

One of which was his first Premier League goal which came against the Villans last night.

It was a towering header from the defender which Carragher said reminded him of Manchester United legend, Cristiano Ronaldo.

This header is absolutely out of this world,” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

He is trying to hold his run because of the offside trap but he gets up so high and he’s actually ahead of the ball.

His body position when the ball is in the air, it reminds me a little bit, I’ve seen Ronaldo score these type of headers where he gets up so early and he’s almost in the air waiting for the ball and as it comes across, I mean look how high his knees are off the ground.”

It feels as if Quansah has really found his feet at the club and could even form a lasting legacy within Anfield if his development continues the way it is.

Only time will tell whether or not the youngster will continue on his path to greatness going into the 2024/25 season.
