Luis Diaz sustained a significant knee injury earlier in the season when Liverpool lost 3-2 to Arsenal at the Emirates. Diaz’s absence has been felt in the team, with the Reds lacking Diaz’s tenacious drive and ability to cut inside.
Initially, the injury was not thought to be too serious, but Diaz was required to have knee surgery in December, prolonging his return.
Diaz is aiming to return to action in March and has recruited injury specialist Mario Simoes to help with his recovery. Simoes’s company “The Peak” is based in Porto and has worked with Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot before.
Simoes has posted photos on his Instagram story today of his work with Diaz, who can be seen doing cables work in the gym at Liverpool’s AXA training centre.
Diaz wants to play a part in the second-leg of Liverpool’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid. With the returns of Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, and Virgil van Dijk and Arthur Melo set to return to action soon, Diaz’s return will give Liverpool supporters confidence that, with their team at full strength, the Reds can climb back up the table.
