Liverpool are preparing for their penultimate Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa this evening.

Kick-off is scheduled for 8pm BST and Villa Park, with it also marking Jurgen Klopp’s final away game as the Reds manager.

The Villains enter this match following a defeat in the Europa Conference League semi-finals, where they were eliminated by Olympiacos.

Unai Emery’s outfit lost 2-0 in Piraeus on Thursday night, after a 4-2 defeat in the first leg at Villa Park.

In the Premier League, Villa could clinch a top-four finish with a victory over the Red.

They were bested by Brighton & Hove Albion in their last league game.

Despite that 1-0 loss, it was their only defeat in their last five league matches.

This match is pivotal for Villa’s European qualification prospects and also carries significant emotional weight as it is Jurgen Klopp’s second-last game as Liverpool manager.

A win for the Villains confirms their place in next season’s Champions League – which is set to follow a new formula in 2024/25.

At the beginning of April, this fixture might have been seen as a potential decider for the Premier League title in favor of Liverpool.

However, disappointing performances in April has removed the Reds from title contention, leaving Arsenal and Manchester City to vie for England’s top football honor.

Now, the contest at Villa Park offers a chance to reenergize the fans and ensure that Jurgen Klopp’s tenure concludes on a high note.

In terms of injuries, the Reds are missing Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, and Ben Doak.

Diogo Jota is a doubt heading into the clash, meanwhile Andy Robertson is expected to feature despite being absent from training in spells last week.
