The interest in Barcelona’s midfield prospect has grown significantly recently, with The Times reporting that both English giants Liverpool and Manchester City may well compete for his signature.
Ex-Liverpool and Spain full-back has insisted, on Twitter, that Liverpool owners FSG should attempt to sign Gavi in the upcoming summer.
Jose Enrique has shared his admiration for this fellow countryman, saying that he is a very good player that would positively influence Klopp’s Liverpool side.
The Times’ report states that the 18-year-old may be available to other clubs on a free transfer, with Barcelona’s financial status becoming an ever-growing issue.
Gavi’s associates and Barcelona are reportedly having issues resolving a troublesome contract negotiation, and so one of the best young players in the world is being left in no-man’s-land in terms of his future.
A problem for Liverpool is how valued the Spanish youngster is to Xavi and it’s more than likely that the dust will settle on the dispute and Gavi will remain in Catalan.
Gavi would be an immense acquisition and would certainly upgrade Klopp’s current midfield options, but the Reds have their attention set elsewhere.
