A positive development for Liverpool has been reported as Mason Mount is now looking increasingly likely to leave Chelsea in the summer.
The 24-year-old’s terms for a new contract have not been met by The Blues, as the midfielder is not happy with the salary that has been offered. Mount reportedly wants a salary equal to that of teammates Reece James and Raheem Sterling, whose recent contracts are worth up to £250,000 and £325,000 a week respectively.
Mount currently earns £80,000 a week and his contract ends in summer 2024.
Matt Hughes of The Daily Mail now reports that Mount has hired a new agent, Neil Fewings from Roof to negotiate with potential new suitors.
The news was confirmed by the reliable Fabrizio Romano.
Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle are in the running for Mount’s signature and will be boosted by this news.
As Mount approaches the last year of his contract, Chelsea may be forced to sell the Englishman in the summer to cash in on his value.
