The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter today to reveal an update on Croatian youngster Josko Gvardiol.
Pep Guardiola is reportedly an admirer of the all-action defender, and the board have also projected their admiration.
The Spanish manager has an abundance of defensive talent at his disposal but is still keen to have Gvardiol join his Manchester roster this summer.
Italian journalist Romano has also stated that Chelsea and Liverpool are continuing their chase for the hot prospect, with nothing decided as of yet.
Romano also revealed there is no release clause included in the Croatian international’s contract, meaning no Premier League club are able to trigger the clause for the player.
If the young prospect was to be Anfield-bound, he would be a staple part of Klopp’s overhaul plans.
With Joel Matip and Joe Gomez possibly part of the Anfield exodus, a centre back must be a department that is needing some much-needed tender, love and care.
Gvardiol impressed for his nation at the most recent World Cup and pricked the ears of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, the Merseyside club included.
At just the ripe age of 21, the defender will demand a mouth-watering fee, following an impressive showing in Qatar in the winter and in Germany during his stint at RB Leipzig.
The young centre back has made 76 appearances for his current club since his arrival to the side in 2021 but is still eyeing up a move, seeing as he’s a very sought-after asset.
