Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has claimed that Liverpool midfielder is now past his prime and should not be at Liverpool for much longer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Bent said that German manager Jurgen Klopp should look to part ways with Brazilian midfielder Fabinho in the summer.

The famous talkSPORT pundit has claimed that his performances over the year for the Reds have been great, but those days are long gone.

“Fabinho has been so good for so long. He now looks like he hasn’t got the legs.” Bent said.

It’s an outlandish claim, seeing as Fabinho has been the anchor to plenty of Liverpool success over the years and has often flown under the radar for his world-class displays.

The 29-year-old Brazilian international would be the first to admit this season has been a poor one for him individually, but his time at Anfield is far from finished.

A long-term successor to the brilliant Fabinho should be sorted out pretty sharpish, but the idea that a player would come in and replace him straight away is farcical.

He has started 19 times this season and has made five appearances from the bench in domestic football and has made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League.

It’s clear that Jurgen Klopp still has faith in the player, albeit he’s clearly not at the peak of his powers at the moment.

The Merseysiders were in the running for four major trophies last campaign, and Fabinho was as instrumental as anyone in the club’s plight for silverware.
