Ex Premier League striker, Troy Deeney is the latest to heap praise on Liverpool’s front three.
He was speaking on Match of the Day 2 last night and hailed Liverpool’s attacking three even better than last season’s deadly combination of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Salah, believing Gakpo and Darwin Nunez to have added pace and strength.
“They’re younger, faster and stronger than the last front three. Gakpo through the middle is like a new 2.0 of Bobby Firmino,’ the former Watford attacker said on Match of the Day 2.
“The three of them occupy the top line. [Gakpo] is like a young Thierry Henry there with his finish.
“The three of them occupy that backline and the best thing is there is always one in the middle of the goal. This is Liverpool for me at their best.”
Deeney scored 47 Premier League goals for Watford between 2010 and 2021.
He currently plays for his boyhood club, Birmingham City and also works as a pundit on BBC’s MOTD 2.
