Ex-Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri has chipped in with his thoughts on how The Reds can finish the season on a high.
The only trophy Liverpool can win is the Champions League, but it will be a tough task to overcome a 3 goal deficit at the Bernabeu on March 15th.
Liverpool have turned 3 goal deficits against elite clubs before. The first one that comes to mind is of course, Istanbul in 2005, and more recently in the semi finals against Barcelona in 2019.
Liverpool can still qualify for next years Champions League after winning last night. They sit 6 points behind fourth place, Tottenham, with a game in hand.
Shaqiri’s thoughts to end the season well is to change formation. He thinks teams have figured out how Liverpool play, and need to become more unpredictable.
Speaking to reporters ahead of his team’s MLS clash, Shaqiri said “I’m a bit far now from what’s going on there so it’s a bit difficult. I see just maybe they are playing the same football for many years, and the other teams are getting better, too.
He went on further, “So they analyse the team and probably they need, maybe, to change their formation sometimes, because I think Liverpool do not play many, many formations, and they played a long time with the same formation.
“Yeah, maybe they (opposing teams) now know how to play against Liverpool, and this was the same with Barcelona with the tiki-taka. Every football at one time, you know, they (learned) how to play against it.
Should Liverpool change their formation or stay with the one that has brought them so much success over the years?
