After yesterday’s news broke that Liverpool are set to sign Cody Gapko it seems that the Reds are not finished yet in this transfer window.

According to Portuguese publication Ojogo, Liverpool and Manchester United have intensified efforts to sign Enzo Fernández over the past few days and both clubs want to sign him in January. Many reports are circulating that Liverpool will do more business in this upcoming window.

Enzo Fernandez is set to arrive back to Portugal on Tuesday after a hero’s welcome in his native Argentina.

Fernandez was tight lipped about his future according to the outlet: “Right now I don’t know anything about it, it’s a matter for my representative. I don’t want to get into the topic. I’m focused on Benfica and in a few days we have a game ahead of us”, shot the midfielder during the tribute, aiming at the trip this Friday to the ground Braga, in a match counting for the 14th round.”

A few hours later, the same journalist who mentioned Liverpool’s move for Fernandez did a follow up tweet mentioning Liverpool’s increase in intensity to sign Fernandez.

So it seems that it’s all hands to the pump from Liverpool to get their business done early in this transfer window. But it looks like they’re going to be pushed hard by Manchester United on this one – who surely won’t be happy if Liverpool beat them to another player.

What do you reckon? Will Liverpool gazump Manchester United to yet another signing?
