Dominik Szoboszlai would have likely been frustrated at the way in which his 2024 started.

He was forced off with a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Newcastle United.

It was unlucky timing for both the Hungarian and Jurgen Klopp, as Liverpool are already missing the likes of Salah and Endo.

Dominik Szoboszlai has enjoyed a good debut season for Liverpool so far, and he will want to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.

Fortunately, the 23-year-old himself has confirmed he is on the mend and that he will return soon.

Last night, the Liverpool man was in Hungary to receive the Hungarian Male Sports Person of the Year award for 2023.

The Hungarian skipper enjoyed a great year that saw him lead his nation to an unbeaten qualification run to the upcoming Euro 2024.

Additionally, he earned a 60 million pound move to Anfield while helping the Reds finish 2023 at the top of the Premier League table.

Dominik Szoboszlai injury update

Jurgen Klopp previously said of Szoboszlai’s injury:

“It’s an injury. Muscle, hamstring. We will have to see. Not [available] for then Wednesday [vs Fulham].”

“Then we will see. After that, hopefully, he might be back but we don’t know.”

Now speaking to M4 Sport (via Ben Bocsak) before receiving his award, the man himself has stated that it won’t take long:

“I’m getting better. The first game of the year didn’t go as planned [for me], but it won’t take long and I’ll be back.”

This does suggest that Szoboszlai will be back in time for Liverpool’s return to the Premier League.

The Reds will take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on the 21st of January.

Hopefully the big Hungarian will be back by then, with his own words suggesting as much.
