Former Liverpool player Dirk Kuyt wished his fellow countryman Cody Gakpo well as the winger completed his move to Merseyside from PSV Eindhoven during the week. Gakpo will wear the no. 18 shirt for his new club, the same number Kuyt wore during his six-year spell at Liverpool from 2006-2012.
The Dutch legend, who scored 71 goals in 285 appearances for the Reds, tweeted earlier today, stating that Gakpo’s new shirt number, “brought me lots of magic, and I hope it will bring you the same kinda magic too. Congratulations and good luck”.
Kuyt’s tweet has received almost 40,ooo likes in less than 3 hours, indicating how fondly Kuyt’s performances are remembered by Liverpool supporters.
Liverpool fans will indeed be hoping to see Gakpo create some “magic” moments and add even more firepower to Liverpool’s already explosive attack.
