Jurgen Klopp shocked the footballing world today when he announced that he will be stepping down as manager of Liverpool at the end of the season.
The German has become a club legend at Liverpool following his 2015 arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
Under his leadership, the club have won almost every trophy imaginable including the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and more.
In an emotional video, the German boiled it down to a lack of energy:
“I’m running out of energy, I have no problem now. I already knew that [one day] I will have to announce that.”
“I love everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything.”
“But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.”
The Liverpool boss will now host a special press conference at the AXA Training Centre to further discuss the groundbreaking decision.
The press conference will be streamed live on Liverpool’s official YouTube channel, with coverage set to start at 3pm GMT.
Reds CEO Billy Hogan will be alongside Klopp in the press conference later this today.
It will no doubt be an enlightening and revealing press conference as the story continues to unravel.
