As of this morning, Patrick Vieira has been sacked by Crystal Palace and so, the South Londoners are now on the pursuit of a worthy replacement.

An official website statement announced the sacking of the Frenchman.

Given his poor 2023 form with zero wins since the last day of 2022, Vieira’s time in charge was like a ticking time bomb.

The club’s higher-ups are looking for a swift replacement as Palace look to survive another season in England’s top flight.

Although they sit in 12th place currently, the fight at the bottom could go any direction with them only five points adrift of bottom-placed Southampton.

FourFourTwo have reported that former Liverpool manager, Rafael Benitez, may be looking to take over the throne at Selhurst Park.

His most recent position at Merseyside rivals, Everton, did not go swimmingly, and the Spaniard has been out of work ever since.

Benitez certainly boasts Premier League experience and would definitely bring something to the table, even if his style of play isn’t the best suited.

The Scottish Daily Express claims that ex-Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard remains second in line in the bookie’s favourite to replace Vieira.

His underwhelming stint at Aston Villa, however, would mean that a move for Gerrard would be a risky appointment with mastermind Benitez ready to take over at the helm.
