Jurgen Klopp has named his team to start against Fulham this evening at Anfield.

The German has gone with a strong line-up as he attempts to gain an advantage before the return leg at Craven Cottage on 24 January.

Fulham manager Marco Silva is under no illusions to how hard the game will be, but he remains hopeful of a positive result for his side:

“We have huge respect for Liverpool and the quality they have.”

“They have played well this season and they top the Premier League after all.”

“You have to have that ambition [to advance], but also understand Liverpool’s quality and the great challenge that awaits us.”

Virgil van Dijk makes his return from illness after sitting out Liverpool’s memorable 2-0 FA Cup victory over Arsenal.

Connor Bradley is trusted to fill the gap left by the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott will want a strong performance to show the staff at Anfield that he is capable as a starter.

The confirmed team is as follows:

Kelleher, Bradley, Konate, van Dijk (C), Gomez, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Jones, Elliott, Jota, Diaz

Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo have been named on the bench after they started the last game against Arsenal in the FA Cup.
