Liverpool’s pursuit of Manu Koné is intensifying, according to reliable reports.
The Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield since January but Liverpool have made Koné one of their targets in the last few days.
SportBILD’s Christian Falk appeared on the publication’s YouTube channel and gave an update on Liverpool’s interest in Koné.
Falk believes that Koné is a suitable alternative to Jude Bellingham and a much cheaper option. The fee being muted around Koné is around €30 million.
Falk said, “That’s true, Liverpool didn’t get Bellingham, who is going to Real Madrid, but they found an alternative in the Bundesliga that they like and that’s Manu Koné,” he said.
“We heard that the transfer negotiations are getting hot. The Gladbach midfielder has a contract until 2025 with a one-year option.
“The good thing for Liverpool is that he is much cheaper than Bellingham, they talk around €30m. So, it’s possible they don’t get Bellingham but another player from the Bundesliga.”
Getting a player of Koné’s profile for only €30 million seems like an absolute no-brainer move for Liverpool as they begin their midfield revolution.
