Mason Mount is looking to depart current club Chelsea this upcoming summer transfer window, according to Football Transfers.

The 24-year-old has been linked to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool after news broke that his contract negotiations had come to a halt.

Mount has a remaining 18 months left on his current deal so the West Londoners will be looking to cut ties with their homegrown talent this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

Klopp’s midfield options may be baring thin with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and veteran James Milner all likely to move on at the end of this campaign.

In an ideal world, Liverpool will need at least three new midfielders to replace those outgoing.

As per Football Transfers’ report, Mount is fond of Liverpool and would prefer a move to them, as opposed to staying put under Graham Potter’s reign.

With Liverpool set to go under major reconstruction this summer, Mount’s admiration of the Reds is very exciting for those in Merseyside.

Mount, if he joins, will be an upgrade in the engine room department on those players looking for a new challenge.

His contract is running down faster than ever, so the reality is that his price tag would have suffered greatly, meaning Liverpool may not be forced to fork out for a hard-working midfielder.
