Seleção legend and former World Cup winner Cafu has shared his thoughts on Liverpool and England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after his first appearance of the tournament in last nights 3-0 victory over Wales.
Cafu: “He has everything: quality, dribbling, pace, but it’s always the same story, they say you are not defensive enough & you remain out. Somebody used to say the same about Roberto Carlos & me, I think we won something.” [Football Italia]
There are very few right-sided full-backs to have played the game whose opinions would carry the same weight as the former World Cup winning captain. His stern defence of Alexander-Arnold goes in sharp contrast to the heavy criticism that has been levelled at the Liverpool man this season by various Premier League pundits.

Trent poses attacking qualities that Cafu deeply appreciates, even if at times, defensive lapses can cost him and his team. Cafu would argue that there is still scope for defensive development for the 24 year-old defender and patience may prove pivotal for a player whom Gary Neville refers to as a ‘generational talent’.
