Liverpool will travel to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal next week Sunday and Mikel Arteta is confident that Declan Rice and defender Gabriel will be fit for the visit of the Reds.
The duo were forced off during their 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
Rice was replaced by Emile Smith Rowe, with just over 15 minutes remaining of the league game against Roy Hodgson’s side, while Gabriel was withdrawn with nine minutes of normal time remaining as he was replaced by Jakub Kiwior.
The duo has played a pivotal role for the Gunners this season, contributing significantly to their current standing of 3rd place in the league with 43 points.
This places them just two points behind the leaders, Liverpool, who have played one game less and are set to face Bournemouth on Sunday.
Their absence will be a huge loss for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta as they look to reignite their Premier League title challenge after a solid start to the campaign.
The north Londoners returned from their week-long winter break in Dubai revitalised, securing a convincing victory with a Gabriel header, an own goal from Dean Henderson, a finish from Leandro Trossard, and two late strikes from Gabriel Martinelli, ultimately sealing three crucial points.
“Declan was feeling something, a sensation in the hamstring, so we wasn’t going to take any risks at 3-0. Gabby had a tackle in the first-half with his knee and he was a bit struggling,” Arteta told Sky Sports.
“I hope not (serious), but we’ll see.”
He continued, “He was feeling some tiredness. I don’t know exactly what muscle it was but when he says that at 3-0 obviously we don’t want to take any risks, and the same with big Gabi as well. He had some discomfort, he had a tackle in the first half and was a bit struggling so it was the right moment to take them off.”
Liverpool emerged victorious over Arsenal in the FA Cup earlier this month at the Emirates Stadium and will aim to replicate this success when the two teams face each other once more.
