Liverpool announced this morning that Jurgen Klopp would be leaving the club at the end of the season after nine years at the club even though his contract runs until 2026.

The legendary German coach stated that it was his decision as he would like to take a break for a year and that at this current moment in time, he does not see himself managing anyone else.

He also stated that he would never manage another side in England after winning every trophy available to him during his time in England apart from the Europa League, which he could tick off at the end of this campaign.

Klopp hosted a special press conference to answer questions from the media about why he had made the decision but that will be the only time he will be giving answers about the topic.

Several other managers had normal press conferences ahead of their weekend fixtures with the likes of Roberto De Zerbi and Xabi Alonso answering questions about the surprise nature of Klopp’s decision.

Another manager was asked about the topic but his answer was short and sweet as he distanced himself from any rumours about him potentially being the next man in charge of Liverpool.

Arne Slot gives short answer when asked about Jurgen Klopp news

Dutch manager Arne Slot had a fabulous season in the 2022/23 campaign as his Feyenoord side won the Eredivisie title after losing just two games.

This year they are up there again challenging for the title however they are ten points off PSV who are yet to remarkably lose a game in the league so far.

The 45-year-old had impressed so much that Tottenham Hotspur were willing to make him their new manager in the summer whilst he also held talks with Chelsea but he signed a new contract at the defending Dutch Champions to end any speculation.

Now that there is another role opening up at one of the biggest clubs in England he was asked about it but he shot down any discussions about the news and the fact that there will be a job available next season.

He said: “What answer can I give that there will be no headlines about it?

“So next question!”

Liverpool will be making sure they review every option they have available to them before they hire Klopp’s successor so it remains to be seen whether Slot’s name will be on their shortlist at all.

It has been reported that there are three names in the early stages that are in the frame to take over at Anfield but as of right now there is long way to go before anything is decided.
