Liverpool faced Aston Villa today in a match which doesn’t have much meaning for the Reds.

However, for the Villans, a lot rests on Monday’s game. Unai Emery’s men are currently sat in fourth place on 67 points.

Whilst third-placed Tottenham are residing on 63. If things stay as they are, this will mean that Villa will have qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Despite the game not meaning much to Jurgen Klopp’s men, it marks the final week of the German as Reds boss.

Although his final season hasn’t been as much of a fairy tale as he would’ve liked, the German can still end his tenure with his head held high.

Over the last month or so, the Reds have gone from a quadruple chasing team to finishing the term with just the Carabao Cup.

However, since their last clash against Tottenham, their form seems to be picking itself up once again.

Granted, the teams poor performances are due to many different factors, however, the amount of injuries that the Anfield club have sustained have no doubt hindered their chances.

The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara and Ibrahima Konate have all had extended spells on the side-lines.

However, arguably the most missed of Liverpool’s injured men has bene that of Andy Robertson.

Since arriving in Merseyside in 2017, the Scotland international has been ever-present in Klopp’s squad.

But, throughout the 2023/24 campaign, the left-back has been absent for the vast majority of the season.

The defender has missed 26 games this season alone, the most of his career.

And, he has seemingly added to this tally during the Villa game as the defender was absent from the squad.

Why Andy Robertson wasn’t part of the Liverpool squad

Although Monday’s game against Villa is the penultimate of the Premier League season, his absence will strike worry into his nations minds.

Especially since Euro 2024 is just around the corner. However, fortunately for the Scotsman, Lewis Steele has been able to put fans mind at ease as he has claimed Robertson’s absence is ‘nothing to worry about.’

Andy Robertson missing from Liverpool squad but believe it’s nothing to worry about — he has a minor niggle and has just been given the night off tonight with the Euros just around the corner,’ he stated via X.

Should be ok for Wolves on Sunday.’
