Trent Alexander-Arnold has come out in defence of Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan has been under the spotlight since his arrival on Merseyside, despite periods where his finishing could have been much better, the striker has already hit double figures in his debut season.
In response to the doubts, Trent Alexander-Arnold has doubled down on Darwin Núñez’s talents telling Sky Sports “he’s able to hurt opposition” and “we are all behind him and we are all supporting him”.
Speaking to Sky Sports via Football Daily Alexander-Arnold said: “He’s [Darwin] a player that I think it’s easy to just write him off. It’s easy to say ‘he’s not scoring goals,’ but he’s getting himself into areas and places where he’s able to hurt the opposition and that’s all you can really ask.
“We have faith that the goals will start coming. No one here’s thinking about that, we’re all behind him we’re all supporting him and it’s always good to see him on the scoresheet. But as long as the team wins, I think that’s all anyone really cares about.”
Núñez has been labeled the “Captain Of Chaos” by many who see his impact on games. The Uruguayan has 10 goals and 3 assists within the 23 games he has played in all competitions for the Reds this season.
