Leeds midfielder Brendon Aaronson has admitted that Liverpool was his favourite club growing up.
The United States midfielder has impressed since his arrival to the Premier League. The 22-year-old has scored once and assisted twice since he joined Leeds.
In an interview with Amazon Prime on YouTube, Aaronson goes on to describe that Liverpool as his favourite team growing up. Aaronson said;
“I always get a lot of stuff for this, but my favourite club growing up was Liverpool”. Aaronson also goes on to state that he was a “big Steven Gerrard, and Fernando Torres fan”.
With the Yorkshire club being so far down the table, some Liverpool fans may wonder if Aaronson is the caliber of midfielder required at an elite club. It is difficult to see Aaronson getting into Klopp’s first team, however, his age, versatility, and energy could make up for his lack of experience at a top club.
The American international’s current contract with Leeds runs until 2027. Of course it was just a fleeting comment but it is always interesting to hear other Premier League players speak so fondly about Liverpool.
