Ben Jacobs reports that Liverpool are interested into two Bundesliga centre-backs in RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka.

Liverpool are one of many teams to be watching Gvardiol who impressed during the World Cup with Croatia. Gvardiol has a release clause in his contract to be worth £ 100 million. The 21-year-old is a known Liverpool fan, but it will be difficult to prise him away from Leipzig in the summer, who would not want to lose him and star man Christopher Nkunku in the same summer.

With the pursuit of Bellingham, it is likely Liverpool will not have as much money to spend on other areas of their squad. The cheaper centre-back option is Ndicka. The 23-year-old’s contract expires at Frankfurt in the summer and it is unlikely he will extend meaning he can join on a free. Liverpool will likely face competition from Tottenham for the signing of the Frenchman as they also look for a left-footed centre-back.

Centre-back has also become a problem area in recent weeks due to injury to Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as well as the likes of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez both heavily underperforming, this has forced Liverpool to begin looking at alternatives as the club continues to look at rebuilding the squad.
