According to GOAL.com “Liverpool and Arsenal are among those that made checks” on Benfica’s Florentino Luis.

He is a highly skilled defensive midfielder who is the only player to feature in all of Benfica’s games this season.

The 23-year-old has been on many Premier League clubs radar for years, reports claimed Fulham were interested in the midfielder two years ago.

Florentino Luis has been reported to have a release clause of €120 million but it is likely Benfica will accept an offer of much less.

Speaking to GOAL the former Benfica coach João Tralhão has compared Florentino to “Makelele” and “Casemiro” saying that he can do a similar job in in allowing the attacking threat to do what they do best. Tralhão also said that “He can play anywhere, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool. He would have no problem adapting.”

One area where Liverpool need to strengthen is in the defensive midfield area. Stefan Bajcetic has been a revelation but Liverpool will need to strengthen this position in the summer.
