Player Ratings – Liverpool vs Leicester City

Liverpool were lucky to leave Anfield with three points

Alisson – (8) Couldn’t do much about the goal. Good point blank save from Barnes. Came off his line well for any balls in over the top.

Alexander-Arnold – (7) Leicester targeted his side and it caused Liverpool issues. Some passes went astray. However in the second half he dealt well with Harvey Barnes and his all round game improved as the game progressed. Made three interceptions and showed strong resilience to get back into the game.

Van Dijk – (6) Possibly could have applied more pressure in the lead up to Leicester’s goal. Not his usual commanding display. Less to do in the second half.

Matip – (5) Got forward a few times but at times left too much space in behind him. Liverpool were not compact enough at the back. Sloppy pass late on led to a Leicester attack.

Robertson – (4) Sloppy paces early on. Lucky to avoid a card for a crunching tackle. Replaced on the hour mark after he went off with what looked like a muscular problem. Would have hoped for more of an impact.

Elliott – (6) Decent first half. Failed to have an impact in the second. Replaced after he picked up a knock.

Henderson – (4) Sloppy first half, a lot of misplaced passes. Nearly scored when his effort went just wide. Passing will need to be crisper.

Thiago – (8) Liverpool’s most prominent player. Crunching tackle before the 20 minute mark avoided a 2 v 1 on Alisson. Slick passes, strong tackles.

Salah – (7) Couldn’t get into his usual free-flowing rhythm. Tried hard. Lacked the killer instinct in front of goal but gave defenders trouble.

Nunez – (7) Always busy. Never gives defenders a break. Involved in Liverpool’s second goal. Handful for defenders, always causes havoc. Could have two assists after great set up play. More composure around the box could have led to a goal

Oxlade Chamberlain – (6) Involved in some link up play but didn’t have a major impact in the second. Worked hard off the ball tracking runners.

Subs:

Keita – (7) Put Nunez through well on the 76th minute when he showed great vision. Liverpool took more control in the middle after he came on.

Tsimikas – (7) Looked confident on the ball. Some strong runs into space. Decent corners after he was introduced.

Bajcectic – (7) Crunching tackle two  minutes after he came on. Klopp punched the air with approval.

Gomez – (6) Not much to do but stopped a Leicester attack with minutes to go.
