Liverpool were second best all afternoon at the Amex.
Klopp said he couldn’t remember a worse game at full-time
Ratings:
Alisson 4 – Came off his line well at times to head clear. No support in front of him. By his standards, he could have smothered Welbeck and March’s efforts.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 4 – Mitoma seemed to target him and caused him trouble at times. Didn’t get the chance to offer anything offensively today. Stood off Mitoma too much. One fine delivery for Gakpo.
Konate 4 – Better of Liverpool’s defenders in the first half with some strong clearances. Could have done better in the second half, especially for Welbeck’s goal. Not aggressive enough for Brighton’s second-half goals.
Matip 3 – Sloppy afternoon. At fault for Brighton’s second goal. A day to forget.
Andy Robertson 4 – Didn’t apply enough pressure to March for Brighton’s second goal.
Fabinho 3 – Off the pace. Lucky to escape a booking in what looked like a challenge from frustration on Colwill
Thiago 5 – Struggled with Caicedo controlling the game. Didn’t influence the game as much as he would have liked, did chip in with some strong tackles.
Henderson 3 – Second best in the middle. Tried some long-range passing that didn’t come to fruition.
Gakpo 4 – Quiet. Not much service but didn’t bring himself into the game either.
Salah 4 –Â Lacked service but couldn’t get into his usual rhythm.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 4 – Similar to the two above. Tried but no influence on the game.
SUBS:
Gomez 3 – Poor defending for Brighton’s third with a pass straight out of play soon after. Brought on to tighten up Liverpool’s defence, didn’t happen. Welbeck spun him too easily with 5 minutes to go.
Elliott 4 – Poor effort after he had a free shot from 12 yards. Tried to bring some energy to the game.
Keita 6 –Â Brought more creativity to the game after his introduction.
Doak 5 – Difficult game to come into at such young age. Tried to use his pace at times.
