FT: Aston Villa 1-3 Liverpool.
Player ratings below.
ALISSON – (7) Apart from one rocky moment, the Brazilian was solid throughout.
ALEXANDER-ARNOLD – (7) Sensational ball into the box to Roberston, who passes to Salah, goal. Caught in behind. Poor for Watkins goal in 58th min. His bad clearance led to the opportunity.
MATIP – (5) Watkins got the better of him too many times and he was caught out of position too often.
VAN DIJK – (8) Nice finish with his left foot from a corner. Defensively aware and switched on throughout.
ROBERTSON – (7) Brilliant assist from with the outside of his boot from a sumptuous Trent ball in into the box. His 54th assist in the Premier League. A record for a defender. Positive going forward.
HENDERSON – (6) Would have wanted to make a bigger impression on the game. Liverpool went quite direct for a lot of the game, meaning the midfield didn’t play a huge role.
FABINHO – (6) Made a few good tackles but failed to make his mark.
THIAGO – (3) No impact on the game.
SALAH – (8) Brilliant finish in the first half from a lovely Robertson assist. Solo counter attack in 50th min, he was one-on-one with Olsen and probably should have squared it. Positive all game and won lots of fouls.
NUNEZ – (8) Similar to his performance against Manchester City in the week. Lots of opportunities that he failed to take advantage of but his hard work and his selflessness endeared him to the away fans. He played a pivotal role in Bajcetic’s goal. He received a standing ovation when he came off. He or Salah both have a claim to the Man of the Match.
OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN – (6) Probably deserved to start after his performance against Man City but failed to capitalize on this opportunity.
KEITA – (3) 67th min for Thiago. Quite poor. He looks unfit.
ELLIOT – (6) 67th min for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
JOE GOMEZ – (6) 79th min for Trent.
BAJCETIC – (8) 79th min for Henderson. Scored seconds after coming on. Nice finish.
DOAK – (7) 87th min for Nunez. Big moment for the youngster. Showed bravery running at Villa almost immediately.
