Jurgen Klopp has given an update on the fitness of Darwin Nunez, who has missed Liverpool’s last two fixtures for ‘precautionary’ reasons.
Nunez’s injury was described as minor and his return to fitness will provide further momentum to the Liverpool squad after their hard-fought 1-0 victory in the FA Cup replay vs Wolves last night.
Klopp told the Liverpool Echo after the game, “Let’s have a look. I hope that Darwin (Nunez) is coming back and training tomorrow or Thursday. He might then be in contention.”
Liverpool will hope that Nunez is fit in time to make an appearance against Chelsea this Saturday in the Premier League.
Nunez has scored 10 goals and has racked up 3 assists in 23 appearances for the Reds in his debut season. The games will come thick and fast for Liverpool in the coming month so Nunez’s return to the team spells good news for Klopp’s attacking force, which will need all its firepower available.
