Jurgen Klopp gave his thoughts on his team’s performance in his post-match interview with Amazon, in which he singled Darwin Nunez out for praise, as well as his young players, who all made a big impression in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.
On the overall performance:
“Top performance. Really difficult game. I think we played exceptional in the first half even if Villa had their moments. But we were really good. I liked what I saw. I told the boys at half time where we could have done better. Second half, we missed the last step. Villa was pushing more. In a home game we knew that would happen”.
On Nunez’s performance:
“It’s incredible. What a game he played. He will score, there is no doubt about that. What he gives us is depth. Each ball pretty much, you control it once and then play it in behind. It’s really tricky because he has power that’s incredible. And of course, he will score in this situation very often. Everything will be fine. His game was exceptional”.
On Stefan Bajcetic and Liverpool’s youth:
“He’s (Stefan Bajcetic) just cheeky like hell and he’s not worried about anything. He just plays football, and he can do that exceptionally well. He has a football playing father, the genes are obviously there but attitude and awareness and his football intelligence is really big. It’s a big pleasure to work with these boys. (On Doak) We brought him with the first situation. You see how cheeky he is. Bobby Clarke, another famous name. The future is bright. These boys fit in when we are well organized, and we can do it”.
