As the Premier League season draws to a close, Aston Villa prepares to host Liverpool at Villa Park in a fixture that carries significant weight for both teams, especially regarding Champions League qualification.

This match represents an important occasion for both clubs, albeit for different reasons.

Aston Villa, in the context of European spots, are still battling it out for qualification for the Champions League next season.

The Villains are currently 4th with 67 points, with a win against Jurgen Klopp’s men cementing their spot in Europe’s premier club competition at the expense of Tottenham Hotspur.

From a Liverpool perspective, it marks an emotional milestone as it is Jurgen Klopp’s penultimate game in charge of Liverpool.

The German recently sat down with Expedia for an emotionally charged visit to the past as the Reds boss.

While it is not a title-deciding fixture many people thought it was going to be, the players still should be motivated enough to see out Klopp’s tenure as well as possible.

Aston Villa still have to play their semifinal second-leg clash against Olympiakos on Thursday night, in which they are 4-2 down after the home reverse fixture.

Therefore, the Reds will have had plenty more rest than their counterparts by the time Monday night rolls around.

With that mind, let’s take a look at Aston Villa’s injury list as it stands.

Emi Martinez

The World Cup winner was forced off the pitch during his side’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea on 27 April. Martinez now reportedly faces a ‘race against time’ to try and feature against Olympiakos tomorrow night.

However, a report from Gaston Edul claims that the Argentinian will indeed return in time for Olympiakos.

Expected return date: Olympiakos – May 9

Nicolo Zaniolo

The Italian did not feature against Villa’s most recent Premier League game, a 1-0 loss to Brighton.

Speaking post-Brighton, Unai Emery said that the winger ‘needs time to recover’ ahead of Olympiacos after carrying a knock sustained over a month ago.

Expected return date: Liverpool – May 13

Youri Tielemans

Tielemans was another victim of Villa’s Premier League bout with Chelsea at the end of April, after picking up a groin injury in that 2-2 draw.

His injury is not believed to be as severe as initially expected and could be in line to make a return Olympiacos although.

Expected return date – Olympiakos 9 May.

Jacob Ramsey

The young midfielder burst onto the scene under Steven Gerrard and has been making steady strides since.

However, manager Unai Emery revealed that the 22-year-old will be out for the rest of the season with a foot injury.

Expected return date – ruled out

Tyrone Mings

The England international has been the unfortunate victim of an ACL-related injury, sustained in the very first game of the season.

Although he is nearing the end of his rehab, the defender is not going to feature against Liverpool.

Expected return date – ruled out.

Boubacar Kamara

Kamara was a player linked with Liverpool last summer and has developed in a fine player at Villa Park.

However, the Frenchman underwent knee surgery at the end of February and is ruled out as a result.
