Liverpool are set to face Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth on Sunday the 21st January.
Sunday’s game will be Liverpool’s first following their short winter break.
The Reds currently sit on top of the Premier League table on 45 points, three ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
They will be looking to extend their lead and cement their place above their rivals.
However, the Cherries are currently going through a purple patch of form as they have won four of their last five games.
This is largely due to the recent form of former Liverpool man, Dominic Solanke.
The striker joined Bournemouth in 2019 for a fee worth around £19million.
At the time, it seemed as if Liverpool had ‘robbed’ the Cherries as the striker was never at the top of his game.
However, over the last couple of seasons, his fortunes have changed and he even came away with the Premier League Player of The Month award for December.
Liverpool will, however, be looking to extend their impressive run against Bournemouth as Jurgen Klopp’s men have triumphed over the Cherries 14 times out of their last 17 clashes.
The clubs have met twice this season with the Reds coming away with the win each time.
The first came on the opening day of the season where the Reds triumphed 3-1 and the second was in the round of 16 for the Carabao Cup which ended as a 2-1 win for Liverpool.
Bournemouth team news
Bournemouth are set to be without multiple first-team members ahead of their clash with Liverpool.
Both Tyler Adams and Ryan Fredericks are out with long-term injuries so they will miss the game.
This season, the pair have not yet played a game for the Cherries this season with each player aiming to reach full fitness sooner rather than later.
Two stalwarts within Iraola’s team will also miss out, in Adam Smith and Milos Kerkez.
However, defender, Lloyd Kelly has not yet been ruled out of matchup with the Spaniard stating,
“Lloyd Kelly is the only player who I would leave it open to, but he’s definitely not 100% guaranteed to play. He’s the only one who has a slight chance of being in the squad.”
Liverpool team news
Liverpool are also set to be without a number of players for their upcoming Premier League clash.
Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah will obviously not be available due to their international commitments.
Both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas will also miss out on the game as they await the green light to play following their long-term injuries.
Veteran, Joel Matip, suffered a season ending ACL injury so it is unlikley that we will see him donning the Red of Liverpool throughout the rest of the campaign.
Some big names such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai will also be absent on Sunday.
Klopp did, however, confirm that all of the Reds’ injured players are “close” to returning.
“They are all positive but not ready.
“But they are all going in the right direction, getting closer and closer and closer. Some of them might be in kind of part of team training next week.
“But for the Bournemouth game I don’t expect anybody back. I hope nobody [else] will be out until then.
“But after Bournemouth, maybe for Fulham, we will see how the boys do. But they are all close.
“Trent close, Dom close, Robbo close. All going in the right direction, that’s all positive, but for the weekend’s game, no.”
