Alexis Mac Allister was one of the shining stars in Argentina’s World Cup triumph last year, and even assisted Angel di Maria’s goal in the final against France.
After switching the Brighton with Liverpool over the summer, Alexis Mac Allister as slotted in perfectly at Anfield – despite playing with tired legs against Wolves on Saturday.
In an interview with Argentinian outlet La Nacion, Mac Allister spoke a bit on his time at Liverpool so far, how he escapes the ‘noise’, and his relationship with Jurgen Klopp.
“Yes, it is a pride for me”, he answered when asked how it felt to wear the famous red of Liverpool.
“It is a very great happiness. When I was given the chance to wear the ten I did not hesitate, because it is a very important number, not only in football, but in the history of a club as big as Liverpool.”
“And well, I keep working and learning to be able to represent it in the best way. I think that’s the most important thing and what in the future will give me even more satisfaction.”
The diminutive midfielder has certainly justified wearing the famous number, and his performances can only get better as gets more comfortable with the club and his new teammates.
Mac Allister was also quizzed on what he does away from the pitch to unwind and get away from all the noise:
“In that stage that perhaps I was not in the best shape, I locked myself to play the ‘little games’, because it was also a way to communicate with my friends in Argentina.”
“Playing ‘Call of Duty’ with them was the excuse to be able to talk, to be able to enjoy moments with my friends that, at a distance, become very complicated to live.”
“I was always very close to my friends, my family, and that circle that is very strong for me.”
“Then, as in England at the beginning it was very hard for me, I found in video games a space to be able to share with them.”
“Then, as we are a very football family, it is very difficult for us to spend time on things other than football.”
It seems that Mac Allister is quite the gamer, and perhaps he bonded over a deathmatch with Dominik Szoboszlai who also recently confessed that he is a ‘Call of Duty’ fan.
To finish off, Liverpool’s No.10 revealed how his new teammates have been teasing him regarding his relationship with Jurgen Klopp:
“The relationship is obviously 10 points [very good], I just arrived and when you first arrive [Klopp makes] everything easier, and everything goes perfect.”
“But many of my teammates tease me because they say he’s my dad already!”
“The relationship with him is perfect, he is a very charismatic person, who always tries to be close to the players. ”
“For me it is a pleasure to be able to work with him.”

The 24-year-old went as far as to mention who the ringleaders of this running joke were:
[Me], Ali [Alisson], Lucho [Diaz], and Darwin [Nunez] went to the bank. Then they told me that he [Klopp] is my dad, that he can take me out, that I’ve played all the games, and that’s how they drove me crazy!”
“But beyond the joke, the relationship is spectacular, he is a person that I respect, that I respect a lot and hopefully he continues like this and that I can continue learning from him on the court.”
It seems that Kostas Tsimikas is not the only teammate that likes to annoy Alexis Mac Allister, with the Argentinian recently taking to Instagram to have a bit of fun with the Greek international.
